New Albany School District Asking For Millage Increase
NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – More money for schools also will mean a tax increase in New Albany.
The New Albany school district says it needs a 3.57 mill increase this year to meet its needs and offset losses in state funding. The increase amounts to about $35 a year on a $100,000 home. According to Mayor Tim Kent, the city’s general fund budget won’t require a tax increase. Aldermen will meet Monday (9/10) to finalize the budget and tax rate.
