NEMCC Elects SGA Officers
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) recently completed its student council for the 2013-14 academic year during campus wide elections in September.
After electing the core of the Student Government Association in the spring with Tishomingo’s Katelin Wallace, Belmont’s Wesley Brandon and Bruce’s Lexi Burt comprising the roles of president, vice-president and secretary, respectively, Northeast’s student body selected sophomore, freshman and dormitory representatives for the 2013-14 academic year.
Joining Wallace, Brandon and Burt are 12 members of the student body that make up the 15-person council that acts as the voice for the student body at the Booneville-based college.
Sophomore representatives for 2013-14 include Chloe Henson of Rienzi, Chickory Copeland of Shannon and Nikki Baird of Houston and are joined by freshman representatives Hunter Thompson and Lexie Gamble, both of Booneville and Paden Tomlin of Kossuth.
Six dorm representatives also sit on the SGA council with Haleigh Tennison of Booneville representing Mississippi Hall and Judy Pumphrey of Belden serving as the voice for Murphy Hall.
Austin Hayne of Etta will speak for Yarber Hall and Raymond Gee of Cleveland is the representative for White Hall.
Two representatives come from the co-habitation dorm of Wood Hall with Arnenar “Nina” Johnson of Tupelo representing the female side of the dorm and Robert Hays of Dumas speaking for the male side of Wood Hall.
Upon enrollment, every Northeast student becomes part of the Student Government Association. The purpose of the SGA is to plan activities for the students, to hold student discussions, to present helpful student suggestions to the faculty and administration, and to act in an advisory capacity to students.
All students are encouraged to get involved with all the things Northeast SGA has to offer.
