NEMCC Elects SGA Officers
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College students elected three members from the college’s student body to serve in the top positions of the Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2013-14 academic year during recent campus-wide elections.
In early April, elections were held for all potential candidates that qualified to run for vacant office positions.
Kaitlin Wallace of Tishomingo, Wesley Brandon of Belmont and Alexis Burt of Bruce were elected as the president, vice-president and secretary for the Northeast student body, respectively.
Wallace, Brandon and Burt replace outgoing officers: Lucas Ferguson of Bruce, president, Griffin Stroupe of Ripley, vice-president and Anna Lauren Inman of Walnut, secretary.
Upon enrollment at Northeast each student becomes a member of the SGA, which has as its purpose to plan activities and programs for the student body and to present helpful suggestions to the faculty and administration, while acting in a advisory capacity to the students.
Three sophomore students are elected each spring to serve as president, vice president and secretary for the upcoming academic year. Additional council members are elected during the ensuing fall semester.
Students interested in getting involved with student activities on campus should contact the Office of Student Activities located in the Haney Union.
Three freshmen representatives, three sophomore representatives, and six dormitory representatives will be elected during the 2013 fall semester to complete the SGA Council for the 2013-14 academic year.
