Natchez Trace Parkway Theft Solved

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Months of investigation end after two men plead guilty to stealing from the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Jason Thomas Williams of Oktibbeha County and Daniel Wayne Easley of Brandon pled guilty to Theft of Government Property and were sentenced.

The two face prison time, probation and must pay restitution to the Parkway.

In March and later in July of 2016, several items, totaling over $10,000, were discovered missing from a maintenance facility.

And in August 2016, Easley and Williams were charged with Arson and Theft across multiple counties and were then connected to the Parkway thefts.

After finding the missing parts, the duo confessed and pled guilty to Theft of Government Property last June.

Williams was sentenced in September to time served, three years’ probation, and ordered to pay over $800 in restitution.

Easley was sentenced earlier this month to 12 months and one day of incarceration, followed by three years of supervised probation, and ordered to pay roughly $2,500 in restitution.
