Names of Nine Louisville Storm Victims Released

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The names of the nine victims of Monday’s EF-4 tornado that ripped through Winston County and Louisville have been released by Winston County Coroner Scott Gregory.

They are:

Katherine Ferguson, 55

Ruth Bennett, 53

Dora Triplett, 64

Gregory Jernigan, 60

Sarah Massey, 85

Jerry Carter, 61

Leonard Carter, 38

Terri Tucker, 31

Sean Fowler, 44

The name and age of the child who remains missing has not been released.

Ms. Ferguson was found on Plattsburg Road and listed as the first death in the county. Tucker and Fowler were killed in the same residence. Jerry Carter died at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Most of the victims were killed in the Eiland Street area in the heart of Louisville.

The tornado is the second deadliest in the state since 2000, topped only by the April 27, 2011 tornado that devastated Smithville.
