MUW Staff Recognized for Service
COLUMBUS, Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE) The Staff Appreciation Meeting and Luncheon for all Mississippi University for Women, Sodexo and Barnes & Noble staff was held Tuesday on campus.
Nick Adams, graphic designer in University Relations, was awarded Staff Member of the 1st quarter. The Staff Member of the 2nd quarter was awarded to Arden Mason, administrative assistant in the College of Education and Human Sciences. Sherry Durkin, transcript analyst in the Office of the Registrar, was awarded Staff Member of the 3rd quarter and Lola Wilson, administrative assistant for the College of Nursing and Speech Language Pathology, was awarded Staff Member of the 4th Quarter.
MUW service pins also were presented during the luncheon.
Recipients of five-year pins: Nick Adams, Luke Cooper, James Denney, Sirena Parker, Karen Partain, Kimberly Patterson and Tammy Prather.
Ten-year pins went to Annette Benson, Turkessa Cockrell, Tammy Godfrey, Rhonda Jones and Dustin Nolan.
Receiving 15-year pins were Sherry Durkin, Rodney Godfrey, Angelia Sanders and Susan Sobley.
Melanie Freeman and Lola Wilson received 25 year pins.
Sodexo also recognized employees for their service.
Chris Harding and William “Bill” Samaris were noted for five years.
Arthur Harris and Shirley Conner were recognized for 10 years.
Billy Wiegel received a pin for 15 years and Kenneth Conner was recognized for 20 years.
As part of the annual ceremony, MUW Staff Council presented three tables of toys, donated by staff members, to representatives of The Salvation Army.
On the academic side, faculty members were recognized for their service at their holiday reception. The following faculty members were recognized.
Five years: Kimberly Dorsey, Kerry Foxworth, Joshua Hanes, Ghanshyam Heda, Jonathon Hooks, Erin Kempker, Russell King, Brandy Larmon, James Todd, Nicole Welch and Johnnie Sue Wijewardane.
Ten years: Lauren Brandon, Beverly Joyce, Alex Stelioes-Wills, Pamela Thomas and Cathy Young.
Fifteen years: Brian Anderson, Shawn Dickey, Dee Larson and Bonnie Oppenheimer.
Bobby Fuggitt was recognized for 20 years.
Twenty-five years: Richard Montalto, Thomas Richardson and Van Roberts.
David Smith was recognized for 30 years and Shelia Adams was recognized for 40 years with the university.
