MUW announces free tuition program for Mississippi National Guard
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi University for Women announced a free tuition program for the Mississippi National Guard.
The new agreement will ensure free tuition to undergraduate Mississippi National Guard participants enrolled full time at The W as well as any full-time Army members.
W President Nora Miller and Maj. Gen. Janson D. “Durr” Boyles, Mississippi’s adjutant general, were both present at the ceremony held on The W’s campus.
“You’ve got young men and women who are joining the guard every day. Some of those are college students, or they are young men and women who need help paying for college, said Maj, Gen Boyles. “We offer them assistance to the tune of about half the tuition cost. We look to the university to match that cost to offer that student full tuition.”
“This will give them the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree with very little financial burden. We will be providing free tuition for undergraduate members of the guard,” said President Miller.
At the beginning of the year, The W earned the 2019-2020 Military Friendly Schools Designation.
