LOWNDES CO., Miss. (WCBI) — The woman charged with destroying her son-in-law’s body in a gruesome cover up, has been released from jail.

It is just the latest twist in an on-going murder investigation.

Friday, Lydia Martinez posted bond at the Lowndes County Jail.

Martinez is charged with accessory after the fact. She is accused of helping destroy the body of Manuel Vasquez.

A circuit court judge lowered Martinez’s bond during a recent arraignment hearing.

Investigators believe Vasquez was killed at his Windchase Drive home in late June.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Vasquez’s remains were found outside his Windchase Drive home, then put in a container and burned. The remains were then spread throughout the property

Martinez’s daughter, Christina Vasquez is charged with her husband’s murder and domestic violence aggravated assault.

Court documents accuse Martinez’s daughter of using anti-freeze in an attempt to kill her.

There are no restrictions on the bond, according to members of Manuel Vasquez’s family.

Family members tell WCBI they understand that Martinez is headed to Colorado to stay with her sister.

Family members also tell WCBI they believe that Manuel Vasquez’s friend Paul Vega picked Martinez up at the jail.

As we reported last month, Vega has given the county notice that he plans to file a lawsuit, saying he was falsely arrested for the death of Manuel Vasquez.

Christina Vasquez remains in the Lowndes County Jail, awaiting arraignment.
