MSU to Face Virginia in Charlottesville
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – The 11th-ranked Mississippi State baseball team is preparing to play sixth-ranked University of Virginia in the NCAA Super Regionals.
MSU will face nationally-seeded Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. in a best of three series beginning Saturday at Davenport Field. The game times will be 12 p.m. CT Saturday, 6 p.m. CT Sunday and 3 p.m. CT Monday if necessary. The Saturday and Monday games will be televised on ESPN2 and the Sunday contest will be on ESPNU.
The bulldogs are returning to Super Regional play for the second time in three seasons after defeating Central Arkansas 6-1 Monday to win the Starkville Regional championship. State won a home regional for the first time since 2000 and returns to the Super Regional round for the first time since 2011.
A series win against Virginia would give Mississippi State a spot in the College World Series for the first time since 2007.
