“We wanted to make sure we sent our seniors off on a positive note. I was happy those guys were able to go in there at the start of the basketball game and weather the storm,” MSU coach Rick Ray said. “I thought they started our defensive effort there, and it sustained throughout the course of the game. We wanted to make sure those guys left this court with a good feeling.”
The Bulldogs started the game slow offensively. The Tigers and Dogs traded baskets early before MSU took command of the game. A pair of free throws by junior guard Travis Daniels gave the Bulldogs the lead for good and sparked a 17-9 run to close the first half which saw the Bulldogs lead 27-19.

Following a media timeout, junior guard Craig Sword ignited the Bulldogs on ensuing possessions with a layup and a timely 3-pointer to give MSU a double-digit lead, 43-32.
“We played good defensively and Missouri was really good defensively in the second half, too, so it became kind of stagnant and we let them creep back into the ball game,” Ray said. “We needed someone to step up and make some good shots.”
The Tigers would get back within seven points with just over two minutes to play, but late free throw shooting from Sword, Johnson and freshman forwardDemetrius Houston put the game out of reach and sealed the victory.
