STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Teens from across the state traveled to Starkville to attend Mississippi State’s 46th Annual Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Camp.
Students are given the chance to visit Dorman greenhouses, the football field, and other various locations to learn about the different types of landscape.
Offsite visits extend out to Mayhew Tomato Farm and Reese Orchard. Those who attended gained a greater understanding of how these subjects enrich and affect our daily lives.
Camp Counselor Christine Jackson says, “Horticulture is basically plant and soil sciences. All the way down to the anonymity parts of the plants and then also the turf side, like were out here at the golf course and trees and flowers, floral shops and everything.”
Jackson goes on to say, “It’s a great major and to see that its being kept alive is great to see.”
Tomorrow the camp will kick off its final day at the University Florist Studio.
