OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A Mississippi State University organization is raising awareness about sexual violence.

People in the Department of Relationship Violence and Outreach at MSU held a clothesline project on Drill Field.

They want to raise awareness about sexual violence against men and women by allowing students to talk about their personal experiences on a t-shirt. Several studnets also expressed their testimonies about friends or relatives who have been affected by sexual abuse.

Each color t-shirt represents a different form of sexual violence:

White: for men and women who have died of violence

Yellor and Beige: for men and women who have been raped or sexually assaulted

Red, Pink, or Orange: for men and women who have been raped or sexually assaulted

Blue or Green: for men and women who are survivors of incest or child sexual abuse

Purple or Lavender: for men and women who have been attacked because of their sexual orientation

Black: for those attacked for political reasons

Organizers hope the project will help survivors cope and not be afraid to speak up about the topic.

The program continues Wednesday from 9am to 3pm.
