Month-long investigation lands a man in the Lowndes County Jail
The investigation began in June when a report was filed with Child Protective Services stating that a child under the age of 13 had been sexually assaulted by a close family friend.
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A months-long investigation lands a man in the Lowndes County Jail charged with Statutory Rape.
Kyle Anthony Smith was arrested on Thursday.
The investigation began in June when a report was filed with Child Protective Services stating that a child under the age of 13 had been sexually assaulted by a close family friend.
The child was initially reluctant to identify the person, but in late October, deputies were called to the victim’s residence, where the victim reportedly identified Kyle Smith as the person who assaulted them.
The victim also reportedly picked Smith out of a photo line-up.
He was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 16, and charged with Statutory Rape.
His bond is set at 75 thousand dollars.
