Montgomery County lawsuit dismissed
MONTGOMERY, Miss. (WCBI) – A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a group of Montgomery County parents and residents opposed to the consolidation of the Winona and Montgomery County schools.
The state mandated consolidation was challenged by the residents because they claimed the former county students were being excluded from the chance to take part in activities, like cheerleading, because many of those teams were being picked by the Winona schools before the Montgomery County students could take part.
The suit also argued county residents were not being fairly represented on the combined board.
The federal judge dismissed the suit saying no federal claims were presented.
Counsel for the parents say they will appeal the suits dismissal
