Monroe County Weed Bust
MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Three men are behind bars in Monroe County after deputies responded to a tip in the Prairie Community.
Deputies confiscated half a pound of marijuana and several thousand dollars worth of money and guns, among other items.
This is the third drug bust this week in Monroe County.
While Sheriff Cecil Cantrell is determined to rid his county of drugs, he understands why people turn to the drug business.
“First of all, they’re hooked on drugs. Number two, there’s so much money in drugs, and they’re not going to work. Basically, what they do, they just sell drugs to, I guess you could say, make a living. You’re going to end up in the penitentiary, or you’re going to end up in the cemetery. There’s no doubt about it. It’ll take your life,” says Cantrell.
The sheriff also mentions that if there is someone with a drug addiction problem, the sheriff’s department can set up addicts with rehabilitation programs before it’s too late.
