Monroe County Jailers Attacked, Man Charged

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Two Monroe County jail officers are recovering from a brutal attack by an inmate.

Bao Tran, 37, was being moved to another cell when the scuffle occurred Sunday.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says one jailer suffered a broken nose and facial fracture. The other has a broken finger and bruises.

The Ft. Worth, Texas man was arrested after a traffic stop in Monroe County.

Tran is now charged with two counts of Simple Assault Against an Officer.

Bond has not been set and he remains in jail.
