HATLEY, Miss. – (WCBI) They’ve mapped out their plan, and today they put it into practice. Members of the Monroe County SWAT team spent their Monday afternoon at Hatley School for a training exercise.
The Crisis Class was designed to better prepare both law enforcement and educators, about how to respond if a shooter crosses onto campus.
“It’s training for us all. It gives us a plan. Also, we are going to be going through the school building to make sure we are familiar with everything inside the school building in case we have to come in and how we can respond and make it better, safer, quicker,” says Cecil Cantrell.
SWAT team members will visit every school in Monroe County this month.
This is a joint effort with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.
