Monroe Co. Man Heading To Prison In Porn Case

PRESS RELEASE

Jackson, MS—A Monroe County resident is going to prison for possessing thousands of images of child porn, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Roger Wigginton, 69, of Monroe County appeared before Judge Paul Funderburk Tuesday. Wigginton entered an open plea (placing himself at the mercy of the court) to the charges of child exploitation/possession of child porn against him. Judge Funderburk sentenced the defendant to 40 years, with five years to serve and five years post release supervision. He must also pay $1,000 fine and $2,000 to the Mississippi Children’s Trust Fund and register as a sex offender upon his release.

An investigation and forensic analysis of Wigginton’s computers and electronic devices by investigators with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force uncovered that the defendant had downloaded thousands of images of child pornography.

“We are always pleased to know that we have taken one more perverted mind off the streets,” said AttoRney General Hood. “I hope others doing the same will quit and get some help before they meet the same fate.”

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Brandon Ogburn.
