Mississippi’s Job Growth
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi’s job market continues to improve, as unemployment falls and payrolls rise.
Last month, the state jobless rate fell to 4.9%, which ties an all-time low set this May.
Although fewer people reported having a job, this is due to more people exiting the labor force.
Payroll numbers have hit post-recession highs, but are still one percent below the pre-recession peak.
Nationally however, the magnolia state’s jobless rate is still tied for 7th highest.
The U.S. Labor Department released figures Friday, adjusted to cancel out seasonal changes.
