STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – He’s the most decorated player in school history and on Sunday he will start his first NFL game under center for the Dallas Cowboys. Mississippi State Athletics is recognizing the NFL debut of All-American Dak Prescott with digital billboards at five locations in Dallas.
The digital billboards will be on display at the following spots throughout Sunday when the Cowboys host the New York Giants at 3:25 p.m. CT live on FOX:
I-20 East bound
I-30 West bound
Highway 287 North bound
Highway 287 South bound
Highway 174 North bound
The billboard encompasses the line “wherever you go, we go with you,” taken from a thank you video MSU unveiled earlier this year after Prescott penned a letter to MSU in Sports Illustrated.
Prescott, the owner of 38 school records, became the highest drafted player to play quarterback (fourth round, No. 135) in MSU history and on Sunday, he will become the first Bulldog to start under center in an NFL game since Joe Reed of the Detroit Lions did so against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 2, 1979.
Prescott guided the Bulldogs to the No. 1 ranking for the first time and in the process became one of four players in FBS history and the second player in Southeastern Conference history to throw for 70 touchdowns and rush for 40 touchdowns in a career. Furthermore, Prescott earned his undergraduate degree and master’s degree from Mississippi State, while capturing the 2015 Senior CLASS Award as the top FBS senior student-athlete.
Prescott is one of 19 Bulldogs on NFL rosters, 11 of which will be active Sunday during the opening weekend. Eight former MSU players are listed as starters on depth charts in Week 1, including Pro Bowler Fletcher Cox. All 19 of them played for Dan Mullen during their MSU careers.
