Mississippi State Athletics Hosting Bottled Water Drive for Flood Victims
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – As another home athletic year begins on the Mississippi State campus this weekend, the Athletic Department will be collecting bottled water at the Bulldogs’ volleyball and soccer contests to assist the victims of the devastating floods in South Mississippi and Louisiana.
Drop-off times and locations for the bottled water drive is as follows:
Friday, Aug. 26: 5-9 p.m. at Newell-Grissom
Friday, Aug. 26: 7-9 p.m. at MSU Soccer Field
Saturday, Aug. 27: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Newell-Grissom
The items will be transported to the affected areas with other goods being collected by campus’ Maroon Volunteer Center, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Student Chapter of the Disaster Animal Response Team (SCDART), Starkville Police Department and other community partners.
Fans who are unable to attend and want to make a contribution to the cause can donate non-perishable items to the LSU Food Pantry via their Amazon wish list. Using the Amazon wish list link, supporters may view and purchase items identified by those in the area to be in need and ship them directly to the food pantry at checkout.
Additionally, the South Mississippi and Louisiana Red Cross, United Way, and Salvation Army are providing assistance throughout the affected areas. For those who would like to support these efforts, please see the links below for other ways to provide assistance:

An estimated 145,000 homes worth $30.4 billion were affected by the floods in South Mississippi and Louisiana.
