Mississippi Senate Confirms Board Appointments
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Senate has unanimously confirmed several people to serve on state boards and commissions.
Johnny Franklin of Bolton and Karen Elam of Oxford were confirmed Tuesday to the state Board of Education.
Chip Morgan of Leland, Dr. Al McNair of Gautier and Tommy Duff of Hattiesburg were confirmed to the College Board. A fourth nominee, Glenn McCullough Jr. of Tupelo, was confirmed earlier in March.
Black Caucus leaders last week criticized a shortage of diversity on the College Board, but no caucus members voted against the nominees Tuesday.
Todd Hairston of Gulfport, Chip Crane of Fulton and Johnny McRight of Greenville were confirmed to the Community College Board.
Al Hopkins of Gulfport, Jerry Griffith Sr. of Gulfport and Tom Gresham of Indianola were confirmed to the Gaming Commission.
