Mississippi Legislature Passes “Back The Badge” Bill

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – The Mississippi legislature voted Wednesday to increase the penalties for violent crimes against law enforcement.

There was debate in the House but the bill passed fairly easily, 85-31. It applies to crimes against officers, firefighters and emergency responders.

Many call the bill the “Back the Badge Act.”

The two chambers will now exchange bills for potential changes.
