Grand Marshal of Tupelo Reed’s Christmas Parade named
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A statewide ministry that seeks to break down walls between races and denominations will serve as Grand Marshal for the region’s largest Christmas Parade.
Mission Mississippi will serve as Grand Marshal for the 71st annual Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade.
The theme for the parade is “A Christmas of Peace and Harmony.”
Local representatives of the ministry and parade organizers said they hope the selection of Mission Mississippi as Grand Marshal sends a message of unity.
“Mission Mississippi is just men and women, black and white who get together for breakfast once a month, talk with each other, get to know each other as friends and you realize that we’re all in God’s family,” said Jack Reed, Jr.
“Ed and I as co-chairs may be worthy to say hello to the community as Mission Mississippi and to be a reminder of what peace and harmony really is and who brought it forth and that’s Jesus,” said Tillmon Calvert, co chair of the Tupelo chapter of Mission Mississippi.
Entries for the parade can be submitted through Friday, November 16.
