As the holidays are quickly approaching, shoppers took advantage of an annual Christmas marketplace, while helping out a worthy cause.
For the afternoon, Fulton’s Play Garden park became a one-stop Christmas shop for many. The second annual jingle and mingle is a fundraiser hosted by April’s Angel’s.
“This is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. This is in memory of my best friend April South and we are just doing this to keep her memory alive, to do something special in her name and to do something we know that she would have liked to see, which is to give something big and grand to special needs children.”
Along with vendor’s fees, some made extra donations for the handicap accessible playground at Itawamba Attendance Center. Modern Woodman of America is one of those businesses doing a matching fundraiser for the playground.
“We are doing a fifteen hundred dollar match to give towards April’s Angel’s playground. It’s something I havent heard of. Ive never heard of a handicap accessible playground and when we found out that there was something like that going in locally, I definitely wanted to be apart of that.”
“everybody is very kind. Ive done a lot of business already so it will be a great contribution for April’s Angel’s. At the end i’ll do a ten percent donation of my sells.”
April’s Angels have been fund raising all year for the highly anticipated playground. They are hoping that this event will bring them to their fund raising goal.
“We are at eighty thousand dollars, we need one hundred thousand to start our process.”
April’s Angel’s are planning to break ground in February.
