MHP Investigating Prentiss County School Bus Crash

PRENTISS CO., Miss. (MHP) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a three-vehicle crash in Prentiss County that involved a loaded school bus.

Troopers responded to MS 30, near the Hills Chapel crossing, at approximately 3:15pm, Monday, August 15th. Upon arriving it appeared a Prentiss County School Bus was stopped, east bound, on MS 30, unloading a child when the crash occurred.

It appears a 2006 Chevrolet, driven by Tommy Shepherd, 34, of Tishomingo ,was stopped behind the bus, when his vehicle was struck in the rear by  a 2007 Chrysler, driven by Linda Sue Flanagan,56, of Tishomingo. The impact caused Shepherd’s vehicle to collide into the rear of the school bus.

Shepherd and Flanagan were taken to local hospitals with moderate injuries.

The school bus driver was uninjured.

One child on the bus was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The bus was loaded with 27 children at the time of the crash, including the child that was  getting off the bus. The school bus driver’s actions was credited by the investigating Troopers for keeping the child safe that was about to cross MS 30.
