MHP Investigating A Crash Involving Multi-County Police Chase
ALCORN CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team is still investigating a crash in Alcorn County, involving a pursuit.
At approximately 5pm, Monday, Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a 2008 Nissan Maxima driven by Taylor Lane Talley, 24, of Corinth. Talley was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections and refused to stop for the local officials. Talley led officers through Alcorn County, Ripley City Limits, and Tippah County before returning back to Alcorn County.
After running over a set of spike strips deployed by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, on County Road 500, in Alcorn County, it appears Talley drove his vehicle off the roadway and collided into some trees.
Talley attempted to flee the crash scene on foot but was apprehended by local law enforcement officers.
Samantha N Cruz, 30, of Corinth, a passenger in Talley’s vehicle, received fatal injuries from the crash and died on the crash scene.
Felony charges are pending against Talley. He remains in the Tippah County Jail.
