MDOC Officer Receives Heroism Award

TISHOMINGO CO., Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi Department of Corrections probation and parole agent receives the agency’s Heroism Award for an incident in Tishomingo County.Eric Harris

Eric Harris and other employees at the Tishomingo County office
were alerted that Japeth Wilson was threatening to shoot up Tishomingo County High School.

Law enforcement placed the school on lockdown October 6th, 2015, making sure everyone was safe.

Harris and other officers made sure students stayed in their classrooms, provided escorts, kept everyone calm, and got everyone lunch.

Wilson was eventually arrested.

Harris says he’s honored to have received the award, but was simply doing his job.
