McDaniel Demands Election Records From Counties
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Some circuit clerks across the state are expressing disapproval in State Senator Chris McDaniel’s recent move.
Monday, McDaniel’s legal team issued subpoenas to 46 or 47 circuit clerks, calling for the delivery of June 3 Republican Primary and June 24 runoff election records by Friday’s court date to Jones County.
Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk Glenn Hamilton was one of those clerks, but he has already filed a motion to quash the subpoena he said he received yesterday.
Hamilton says McDaniel’s team faxed him the subpoena rather than delivering it to him in person, which he says is a violation of state statute.

JACKSON, Miss. – Attorneys for Chris McDaniel are demanding election records from more than half of Mississippi’s counties for a lawsuit that seeks to overturn his Republican primary loss to Sen. Thad Cochran.
Some circuit clerks say Wednesday that gathering records will require a great deal of work and expense. A McDaniel subpoena demands records be delivered to Jones County by Friday.
Madison County’s Lee Westbrook says she would have to rent a van or hire movers to deliver the material McDaniel is seeking, including poll books and absentee ballots.
McDaniel attorney Mitch Tyner says he sent subpoenas Monday to 46 or 47 of the 82 counties – places he believes there were widespread irregularities in the June 24 runoff.
Certified runoff results show Cochran defeated McDaniel, a state senator, by 7,667 votes.
