Video: Man Killed After Short Pursuit In Clay County
CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Clay County man is dead after law enforcement try to pull over the vehicle he was driving.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott says the crash happened about 8:45 Thursday night on Chickasaw Clay County Line Road.
Scott says a deputy was going west and spotted a vehicle going east. The deputy turned on his blue lights to pull the vehicle over but it didn’t stop.
The sheriff says by the time the deputy turned around, the vehicle was gone.
Investigators say the deputy saw the car spinning out of control in front of him and arrived minutes after the crash happened.
The vehicle went off the road and hit a tree on the Chickasaw County side of road.
Chickasaw County Coroner Michael Fowler has not released the man’s name.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is writing up the report for the crash.
Scott says it’s unclear why the man ran from the deputy.
