Update: Man Killed in Verona Shooting

VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Verona police say they’re looking for a man believed to be involved in a shooting that killed a man Saturday afternoon, and sent another one to the hospital.

Chief Anthony Anderson tells WCBI they’re looking for 33-year-old Roy Merritt, who they’re calling a person of interest in the shooting, which happened around 1 p.m. on City Point Road.

The Lee County sheriff’s department has three others in custody.

Anderson says two gunshot victims were taken to a Tupelo hospital, where one has since died.

Coroner Carolyn Green has identified him as 41-year-old Rodney Lowery of Verona.

The other victim is in serious condition.

Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting.
