LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County man dies in a traffic accident today despite frantic efforts by bystanders to save his life.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says 32-year-old Carlos Williams died from injuries after state troopers say his 1995 Honda Accord was t-boned in the passenger door by a 2008 Dodge F-3500 heavy duty pickup pulling a trailer.
The accident happened about 11 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 45 South and Highway 182. Williams was eastbound on Highway 182 when he pulled through the four-way stop and was struck by the Dodge driven by 34-year-old Wesley Fulton of Philadelphia.
Williams apparently was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected out the rear window of his car, which was driven about 50 feet by the impact.
Fulton was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
Home health care nurse Keshia Nabors and Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Marc Miley performed C-P-R to restore Williams’ heart beat but he later was pronounced dead at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital.
