LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — One life snatched away and two others likely ruined. Now a healing process can at least partially begin with a Lowndes County murder plea.
Sylvester Johnson, 26, of Aberdeen, was sentenced to life in prison without parole Tuesday after pleading guilty to murder charges. He was 22 when he shot and killed Clarence Trimble during a robbery of Trimble’s Big C’s Game Room in northern Lowndes County in October 2009.
Johnson confessed to shooting Trimble when he opened the cash register to get change. A second suspect, Cedric Whitley, is awaiting trial. He was 23 at the time.
Less than $50 was taken and in a confession, Johnson said he used $20 to buy groceries.
Trimble was known in the area around his businesses off Highway 373 for his willingness to help neighbors in times of need.
