Man Arrested After Running From Lowndes Deputies

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County deputies say he tried to run but ended up spending the weekend in jail.

Carlos Smith, 33, is charged with felony fleeing and several misdemeanor traffic violations.

Investigators say deputies were called to Yorkville Apartments for a large fight.

Smith was apparently driving a vehicle that left the apartment complex and nearly hit a deputy’s patrol car head-on.

Law enforcement followed Smith to Elmore Street, where deputies say he ran from them.

Smith was eventually arrested and remains in jail.
