MACON, Miss. (WCBI) -It’s the church that keeps on giving. They started the project two months ago and Saturday they were putting together the final meals.
The Millers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Macon hosted its 2nd Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Last year they provided dinner for 350 people and are hoping to double that amount this year. The congregation is hoping to bring hot meals to elderly that are not able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
“I was talking to one of the members a minute a ago, one of the greatest feelings that I have and the members have is to give back, you know, that’s what Thanksgiving is all about. We hope that it will grow and we’ll be able to reach not only the residents in Macon but also in Brooksville and Shuqaulak as well,” said Pastor Nathaniel Houston.
Pastor Houston says many of those hot meals will be delivered to folks at their homes.
