Luncheon held to honor Lowndes County first responders
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – First responders save lives and protect us.
Friday, they were honored for their selfless work.
The 15th annual “Salute to Lowndes County’s Finest” luncheon was held at the Trotter Convention Center.
Law enforcement, paramedics, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, and relief organizations were recognized for their heroic work.
Food was served and door prizes given to the more than 200 first responders that attended.
Organizers said this event is a way to say thank you.
“They run to the danger, towards the danger, and anytime we pick-up the phone and call them they’re always there. And they don’t do it for the pay. They don’t do it for the recognition. They don’t do it for anything other than they are just here to serve. And we just thought we could do something for them every year and that’s what we’ve been trying to do,” said founder of STLCF Mark Smith.
Volunteers and businesses helped pay for and serve at the luncheon.
Money was also raised for the recovery and relief fund.
