LSU Pulls Away From MSU For Win
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports/MSU Athletics) – Through three quarters, Mississippi State and LSU played a tight and entertaining game. But then the 10th-ranked Tigers erupted for 28 points in the fourth quarter, ultimately downing the Bulldogs 59-26 Saturday night.
With the loss, State fell to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in Southeastern Conference play. LSU improved to 5-1, 2-1.
Dak Prescott got the start at quarterback for MSU, completing 9-of-20 passes for 106 yards, in addition to 103 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Senior signal caller Tyler Russell returned to action as well, racking up 146 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 7-of-11 passes as he was mixed in with Prescott in his return to the field since being injured in Week 1 versus Oklahoma State.
Junior Jameon Lewis led MSU with 111 yards receivingon seven catches, including a 20-yard touchdown toss from Russell.
The Bulldogs are back in town next weekend for Homecoming 2013, hosting Bowling Green on FSN with a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff. State will conclude its current four-game homestand on Thursday, Oct. 24, hosting Kentucky in a Thursday night affair on ESPN and also a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
