Lowndes Murder Trial Scheduled Monday

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A 25-year-old Columbus man will face a Lowndes County jury next week on charges he shot and killed a man three years ago.

Ranzino Harris is scheduled for trial on murder and aggravated assault charges in the death of Justin Murray and wounding of Michael Brewer at a home on Schoolhouse Road in May 2010.

Murray was trying to break up a dispute between Harris and a woman when the shooting occurred.

Murray was a Southern Miss student and Brewer is an Iraq War veteran.

Harris previously was scheduled to plead guilty to reduced charges but changed his mind. The trial is scheduled Tuesday.
