Lowndes Man Arrested on Stat Rape Charge

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Steens man finds himself in jail after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Aubrey Helton, 32, was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department on statutory rape charges.

The girl was 14 when the alleged incident occurred last year. She is now 15. Investigators say they aren’t sure why it took a year for a family member to report the case.

Investigators say Helton has known the girl since she was 7.
