Video: Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Mounts Major Drug Round-up

COLUMBUS, Miss.

On Tuesday June 28 and Wednesday June 29 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit along with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, and assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics initiated an operation to locate and arrest multiple drug offenders. This operation stemmed from a yearlong investigation into drug distribution in Columbus and Lowndes County. Over the past year the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit initiated numerous undercover purchases of illegal narcotics from drug dealers to include marijuana, spice, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and several different types of prescription medications. As a result of this undercover operation approximately 105 arrest warrants were issued for approximately 40 individuals.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Warrants Division has deputies contracted and assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force therefor the U.S. Marshal’s Service committed numerous officers who came to Columbus to assist in locating and arresting these individuals. Over half of the violators have been apprehended and the search is ongoing for the remaining violators. Many more arrests are expected as the search continues.
The following individuals were arrested on June 28th and June 29th.
Demarco R. Gibbs was arrested for sale of methamphetamine.
Vincent K. Harris Jr, was arrested for sale of marijuana and sale of alprazolam.
Dortonia B. Bankhead was arrested for 2 counts of sale of methamphetamine.
Arthur R. Price was arrested for sale of oxycodone and sale of methamphetamine.
Lindsey K. Ashley was arrested for 2 counts sale of alprazolam and sale of Xanax.
Joshua W. Haynes was arrested for 2 counts sale of Diazepam and sale of clonazepam.
Lauren L. Bowen was arrested for 3 counts sale of methamphetamine.
Todd O Canida was arrested for sale of methamphetamine.
Marquez O. Baker was arrested for 2 counts sale of spice and sale of synthetic cannabinoid.
Lewis E. Camp was arrested for sale of hydrocodone.
Lavaris O. Dillard was arrested for sale of hydrocodone.
Corey A. Council was arrested for sale of hydrocodone.
Skylar D. Glenn was arrested for sale of methamphetamine.
Travis M. Jones III was arrested for 4 counts sale of cocaine.
Romone V. Williams was arrested for 3 counts sale of marijuana.
Shakela S. Edwards was arrested for 2 counts sale of alprazolam and 2 counts sale of marijuana.
Jarion K. Hill was arrested for 2 counts sale of clonazepam and 2 counts sale of marijuana.
Shaundra N. Harris was arrested for sale of hydrocodone and sale of oxycodone.
Daphne Reedwood was arrested for Possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, Adderall, MDMA(ecstasy), and marijuana more than one ounce.
Five other individuals were also arrested for warrants issued by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
