Lowndes County Lands 3rd TVA Mega Site

Golden Triangle, Mississippi (Press Release) –  Lowndes County is now home to a third Tennessee Valley Authority Certified Megasite. An invitation-only program, the Certified Megasite Program features a rigorous 9-month process conducted by McCallum-Sweeney, a national leader in site selection.

“The Infinity Megasite is an important economic development partnership between TVA and the communities of Mississippi. By serving as a catalyst for creating and retaining great jobs and investments, this site epitomizes TVA’s mission for making life better for the people we serve,” said TVA President and CEO, Bill Johnson.

The Infinity Megasite is located west of the Golden Triangle Regional Airport. It is part of the Golden Triangle Industrial Aerospace Park, which also serves as home to the certified Lowndes County and Crossroads Megasites.

There are currently nine certified megasites in TVA’s 80,000 square miles of territory. Lowndes County is home to three. Perhaps most impressive, the Infinity Megasite is 100 percent owned by the community.

“Not all sites are created equal and this one is Mississippi’s best in class,” said Joe Max Higgins, Jr., CEO of the Golden Triangle Development LINK. “Megasites have a short shelf life of potential success so we need to act quickly with our partners to identify clients and land a deal.”

The 1,144-acre site features access to a large power-load, with available 100 megawatts of electricity supplied by 3 – 161 KV transmission lines.

Water capacity boasts 2 million gallons elevated tank storage and 7.2 million gallon a day pumping capacity served by a 16” looped line. Waste water treatment allots a 1.2 million gallons a day capacity with an expansion funded to 3.2 MGD. An expandable natural gas service via a 6” steel line with 500 PSI supplying 50,000 MCF is on site.

A multi-modal site, Infinity is surrounded by roads, adjacent to US Highways 82 and 45, 15 miles from the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and houses rail access on its southern edge.

“Companies are not willing to wait for a community to find an appropriate site and determine its suitability for development. That due diligence needs to be completed in advance of a prospect visit, and the LINK team has a property in the Infinity Megasite that has achieved certification and is ready for the team to go out and market with a wealth of information,” said McCallum Sweeney senior consultant, Lindsey Myers.
