Lowndes County EMA gives damage update

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – 250 structures are estimated to be damaged in the city of Columbus.

Lowndes County Emergency Management said those are the new numbers coming in, but assessments are still being done.

Those structures include homes and businesses that have been damaged or destroyed.

23 people were injured in Saturday’s twister and one person killed.

The other big problem area is flooding.

Waters should start to recede in a couple of days but more rain is on the way.

Tarps are available for free at the EMA office, next to the courthouse.
