LOWNDES CO., Miss. (WCBI)–A scary evening for members of a sleepy Lowndes County neighborhood, after a domestic dispute turned into a 90 minute hold up.
It happened in the Christopher Hills neighborhood, near New Hope, around 5 p.m Tuesday.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the home on Kimberly Drive, for a domestic disturbance. The female caller said that her husband was trying to kill her.
One shot rang out, and threats were made, forcing deputies to take a tactical approach to the potentially dangerous situation.
Members of the SWAT team cordoned off the area, a crew from Four County Electric was on hand to cut power to the home, and an ambulance was also on stand by.
Sheriff Mike Arledge says his team followed the correct protocol, and thankfully no one was injured.
“The female had run out of the house and was fearing for her life. That’s all we really had at the time. We came to the area and got to the scene. We waited it out. I tried to make contact with him and then he finally walked out of the house and began to resist. We took him down and made an arrest. We’re still investigating at this time,” says Sheriff Arledge.
Arledge adds that the suspect, who’s name has not yet been released, has been taken to Baptist Golden Triangle for observation.
After he is released, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department will file charges.
