Louisville Wins Championship, Finishes Season Undefeated
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – Louisville has done it. Head coach M.C. Miller told his team at the beginning of the season that this could be a special year, and as his Wildcats hoisted the state trophy at Veterans Memorial Stadium no one could argue with Louisville’s statement that they are the best team in 3A.
“I started with them when they were in ninth grade,” Miller said after the game. “I told them in ninth grade if they stay together and grow together, they would be playing for a state championship.”
Louisville built a lead and held on against Hazlehurst, winning 30-28 Saturday after preventing a two-point conversion that would have tied the game with 41 seconds remaining. The Wildcats led 23-14 at halftime.
“It’s a huge accomplishment for us seniors and for this school,” senior quarterback Wyatt Roberts said. “To go 16-0, that’s a great accomplishment and I just want to thank God for the opportunity he blessed us with this year and this great group of seniors.”
It’s Louisville’s eighth state championship in school history.
