Longtime Choctaw County sheriff not seeking re-election

CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Longtime Choctaw County Sheriff Cloyd Halford is not running for re-election.

In a list of candidates released Monday by the Choctaw County Circuit Clerk’s office, Halford’s name was not listed.

Three candidates are vying to be the county’s top cop, including former sheriff Doug McHan.

He’ll face Brandon Busby in the Democratic Primary.

The winner will face Kevin Connell in the general election.
