Local World War II Vets Visit Memorial
GULFPORT, Miss. (WCBI) Eighty World War II veterans from Mississippi got a chance to see the memorial built in their honor in our nation’s capital today. And ten of them were from North Mississippi.
The group took off this morning from the Gulfport-Biloxi Airport for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight.
Once they landed in Washington, they toured the World War II Memorial as well as other sites including the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
The vets are scheduled to return Thursday evening.
Today’s trip was the fifth Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight.
