List of qualifiers for Lowndes County Sheriff grows

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Three people have qualified to run for Lowndes County Sheriff.

Rick Jones is the former jail administrator at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.

He also worked for years at the Columbus Police Department. Jones currently is a part-time CPD officer.

Archie Williams has also qualified to run. He is the current commander of the Lowndes County Narcotics Task Force, Lowndes County SWAT team, and Lowndes County K-9 division.

Williams has more than 20 years of experience.

Captain Ryan Rickert signed the papers to run Monday. Rickert is the current jail administrator.

He also has two decades of experience and once led the investigations division.

Candidates have until March 1 to qualify.
