Legal fight continues on Mississippi industrial park zoning

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals is affirming a city’s rezoning of land for an industrial park under construction.

But the legal fight in Starkville will continue. A nearby property owner, Laura White, tells the Commercial Dispatch her family will ask the Mississippi Supreme Court to overturn the appeals court’s ruling.

The industrial park is scheduled to be completed later this year on about 400 acres (162 hectares) in northern Starkville.

The Golden Triangle Development LINK is developing the site and applied in December 2016 for rezoning about 360 acres (146 hectares) from general business and residential to industrial. Starkville aldermen approved the rezoning in January 2017.

The appeals court found that the request was consistent with Starkville’s 2005 and 2016 comprehensive plans. Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill says she’s “extremely pleased.”
