Lee County Parents Charged With Child Deprivation

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Two Lee County parents are accused of not giving their three year old child treatment after he was injured.

35 year-old Jeremy and 36 year-old Courtney Perkins are charged with child deprivation.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson tells WCBI the injured boy remains in Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

Deputies say the child was in the parents custody since Friday.

Johnson says medical professionals notified the sheriff’s office about the boy’s condition well the injury.

He says the parents gave conflicting stories about what happened, then told investigators the boy seemed fine so they didn’t take him in for treatment.

The stories ranged from a four wheeler accident to the child hitting his head in the living room of their home.

Johnson described the injury as serious.
