Video: Lee County Gets Waste Fee Hike

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – For the first time in more than a decade, Lee County Solid Waste customers will be paying more for trash pickup. Supervisors this morning voted to increase garbage fees from nine dollars to Twelve dollars and fifty cents monthly. This is the first time rates have been raised since 2005. Solid waste officials say the hike is needed to offset increased fuel and maintenance costs The county had been absorbing the deficit each year but decided a rate increase was now the only way to go. Commercial rates are also being raised by ten percent.
